Power control system modernization, PLC migration, HMI upgrade, system integration, and commissioning support.

The Challenge

The Lekki Headquarters power control system required an upgrade to improve system reliability, maintainability, and compatibility with current operational requirements. The project involved replacing aging control components while ensuring that existing control functions and operational processes remained intact.

A key challenge was carrying out the upgrade without compromising the functionality of the facility’s critical power control infrastructure.

Our Approach

We adopted a structured migration approach, beginning with the procurement of replacement control hardware and the assessment of the existing control architecture.

The project includes the replacement of PLC hardware, modules, and relays, followed by the migration of existing PLC programs to the new platform. In parallel, the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is being upgraded to support improved system interaction and compatibility with the upgraded control infrastructure.

The Solution

We are executing a comprehensive upgrade of the facility’s power control systems, including:

  • Procurement and installation of new Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Replacement and installation of associated I/O modules and relays
  • Migration of existing PLC programs to the upgraded platform
  • Upgrade of the Human-Machine Interface (HMI)
  • Integration of the upgraded control components into the existing power system architecture

The project is being implemented as a complete control-system modernization exercise, covering both hardware and software upgrades.

The Impact

Once completed, the upgrade will provide the Lekki Headquarters facility with a modernized power control infrastructure designed to support reliable system operation and future maintenance requirements.

By replacing legacy control components, upgrading the HMI environment, and successfully migrating the control logic, the project will enhance the facility’s ability to monitor, manage, and control critical power systems through a more integrated and up-to-date platform.
